On Sunday, January 12th, at 3:30 pm, the Human Rights Book Discussion Meetup group will discuss Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond at Panera Bread in Mission Valley Mall, 1640 Camino Del Rio N. In this spellbinding New York Times bestseller and Pulitzer Prize winner, Princeton sociologist and MacArthur “Genius” Matthew Desmond follows eight families in Milwaukee as they each struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Evicted exposes the harrowing world of the ten million or so low-income households that pay half or more of their income for rent and utilities, a long-overlooked population whose numbers have recently soared.
