Amnesty International Group 137 is pleased to announce our Annual Holiday Card Action and Potluck, to be held during our regularly-scheduled group meeting on Monday, December 8th, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at The Station Tavern and Grill, 2204 Fern St. in South Park. (Please note the change from previously discussed plans to hold the event on November 24th.)
As part of Amnesty International’s Write for Rights Campaign, we will be sending brief messages of support and encouragement to fellow human beings who are being unjustly abused and imprisoned. Every December, hundreds of thousands of people around the world get together in honor of International Human Rights Day to send messages to someone they’ve never met. We in Amnesty know from experience that our words really do have the power to change lives. Write a letter, save a life!
At the event, Group 137 will provide a number of holiday cards for people to write their messages in, but if possible, please bring one or more non-religious holiday cards of your own to contribute to the group. Our group’s goal this year is to send 300 cards and letters!
As this is a potluck, please bring a dish to share if you are able. We still need a few more main dishes, as well as side dishes, salads, and desserts.
