August 19th Human Rights Book Discussion: Nothing to Envy

For our August book discussion, the Human Rights Book Discussion meetup group has chosen to read Nothing to Envy:  Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick.  The book follows the lives of six North Korean citizens over a chaotic 15-year period during which a devastating famine killed one-fifth of the population. Demick takes us deep inside the country, beyond the reach of government censors, and we see her subjects fall in love, raise families, nurture ambitions, and struggle for survival. The discussion will be held on Sunday, August 19th,  at 3:30 pm at Panera Bread in the Mission Valley Mall, 1640 Camino del Rio N.  NOTE THAT THIS IS A RECENT CHANGE IN LOCATION DUE TO THE PREVIOUS MEETING LOCATION (PANERA BREAD IN HILLCREST) CLOSING DOWN.
